Congratulations on a Successful Annual Inspection

Congratulations to the Worshipful Master, Wardens, Officers and Brethren of Boggs Lodge for a very successful Annual Inspection this past Saturday! With 60 members and guests in attendance, Worshipful Master Ron Helmlinger presided over an excellent portrayal of the Fellow Craft Degree, with an outstanding lecture given by Senior Deacon Daryl Cordrey, an excellent "G" Lecture given by Worshipful Brother Helmlinger himself, and the charge delivered capably by Senior Steward Andy Vance. Right Worshipful Brother Ned Goff, District Deputy Grand Master, was very complimentary of the work, and thanked the Lodge for its many activities during the year, and its continued contributions to the good of the community, the craft, and the fraternity.

The Boggs Lodge Photo Album

BoggsLodge.org now has a photo album! If you look to the left side of the page, you'll notice a little slide-show of Boggs events and photographs. Click on that little show to see the full album. You can currently see pictures from December's Installation of Officers, or this past weekend's Annual Inspection. There are also some odds and ends pictures for now, but look for more pictures to show up over the course of the year!

Donation Surprises Lodge

At last evening's regular assembly, Right Worshipful Brother Robert O. Sanford announced an anonymous donation to Boggs Lodge. RWB Sanford shared:

This brother has a great respect for the Lodge, a great respect for what the brothers have accomplished and continue to accomplish. He asked that this donation remain in strict confidence, and I'm going to honor that. This donation is made in honor of and on behalf of our late Right Worshipful Brother Chuck Roby, Past District Deputy Grand Master, our current District Deputy, Right Worshipful Brother J. Keith Bell, and, I'm honored to say, myself. The donor wished to express his appreciation for what these Past District Deputies and other Past Masters have done for our lodge, and I'm proud to present on behalf of this donor a complete set of Officer's Jewels and Collars. - Right Worshipful Brother Sanford

Worshipful Brother Lance Hill reported that he and the officers had discussed pooling their resources to purchase a set of collars and jewels for the Lodge, but that the project had been put off because of the cost of each collar and jewel. He expressed his gratitude on behalf of the officers and Lodge, noting that the donation was significant in monetary value.

The Officers will proudly wear their new jewels in honor of the Lodge and the named tributes this Saturday morning at Annual Inspection.

The Passing of Dean Linet

It is with deep sadness that we report the passing of Brother Dean Linet Sunday, February 3rd, 2008. He entered the care of the Supreme Architect of the Universe after a relatively brief battle with cancer.  A 40-year member, Brother Linet was also a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton, and a Past Worthy Patron of the former Constance Chapter 78 and a member of Bellefontaine Chapter 459 Order of the Eastern Star in DeGraff .

Brother Linet's life was chronicled in today's edition of the Bellefontaine Examiner.

Worshipful Brother Mike Madden informs us that calling hours for Brother Linet's family will be held at the Rexer Riggin Madden Funeral Home in DeGraff this Wednesday evening with Masonic services at 8pm. All brothers are encouraged to attend in honor of this outstanding Mason.

This Week in Masonry

This is certainly not an exhaustive list, but here are some of the Masonic events coming up this week:
- Monday, February 4th - Bellefontaine Commandery #61, Regular Meeting
- Wednesday, February 6th - Boggs Lodge 292, Regular Meeting
- Saturday, February 9th - LaFayette Chapter #60 RAM, Annual Inspection

If you have any additions or corrections, contact Brother Andy Vance.

More Inspections

Tonight Worshipful Brother Ronnie Helmlinger and four worthy brothers traveled to the far end of the Friendly 15th for the Inspection of Chester Lodge 238 in the Entered Apprentice Degree. The food was wonderful and the degree work was good. Turnout was excellent, with over 55 brothers in attendance. Worshipful Brother Charles Wood, President of the 15th Masonic District, reported that Boggs was in the hunt (after three inspections) for the traveling Master's gavel, but are well behind in the race for the Traveling gavel. In other words, we need as many brothers as possible to travel to the rest of the District Inspections if Boggs is to pull a repeat in sweeping last year's traveling plaques! There are plenty of opportunities remaining, and with the food as good as we've had so far, there are plenty of incentives to hitting the road. If you're interested in attending any of the upcoming inspections, check with WB Wood or Right Worshipful Brother J. Keith Bell to learn what time vehicles will be departing from the lodge as one or both of them will be at every inspection.

The program will begin at 7:30 when registration opens in Founders Hall on the 3rd floor. There will be coffee and donuts also. The degree work will start at 9:00 with the presentation by Valley of Cincinnati of the 12° and the 25° followed by Lunch at 12:30. After lunch, the Valley of Dayton will portray the 20°. A bus will be departing from the Sidney Masonic Center for interested brothers. Details are available on the Valley's website.

On March 8, the Valley will be traveling to Sidney to Present the 4° and 10° at the Sidney Masonic Center, and on March 18th, at 7:00 P.M. the Valley will be performing "The Chapter of Sorrows" Easter Play. This is open to everyone and is a great way to open your Easter week observances. The Spring Reunion this year is April 11th and 12th.
